Time to take a new Microsoft exam …

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

My good friend and Microsoft Developer Evangelist Andrew Coates recently, and kindly, offered some exam vouchers to help people make a positive start to the new year. Happily, I was one of the 15 who got in first.

My big decision now is which exam to take? Anyone have any suggestions? You can check out my Microsoft transcript online, with transcript ID 750702 and password ‘davidmwilliams’

I’m thinking of exam 70-551, upgrade MCAD to MCPD web developer.

2008: The Linux Distillery in review

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Here’s my review back of 2008 as covered in my iTWire “Linux Distillery” column. There were some highs, some lows. The netbook craze looked certain to put Linux into ordinary households before it turned out consumers preferred Windows XP. Were they right? Meanwhile, Linux has made some groundway into schools around the world. Also, I had a couple of fights with Microsoft over their so-called “get the facts” case studies. And it looks like virtualisation is going to be more prominent in time to come.

This story has been SlashDotted! A good start to the new year!
