What you need to understand is that all proxies are created equal using the exact same technology. None is better than any other and the web filters know how to detect them now. So they don’t' work anymore.

With all due respect David, as the person who blogged back a response that you cite, you missed that I was talking from the IT decision making view.

I was not talking from the SBS consultants viewpoint in my post. That's my reason as the IT decision maker to continue to choose it as my solution of choice for my small firm.

SBS 2008 isn't stuck with 4 gig now on 64bit. (if you have an application that needs more than 4 gigs, set up a separate server for it, if it's that sucky of an app that can't play nice, it needs it's own box anyway)
Yes you only have one SBS box but you can add any number of additional Servers and DCs.
User numbers are capped... yeah.. I'm less than 75 people in my firm and have been so for the nearly 30 years in business with increasing revenue streams.

I hang on several Linux listserves. The SMB consultanty marketplace in Linux may be healthy where you are located but it's anemic in my area.

I choose SBS for 'my' firm for the solution, features, value, and robustness of the infrastructure around it.

I've dealt with consultants that insisted that my firm would outgrow SBS and find it too limiting. Some of them are now out of business. I'm not.

Hi David.
I note in your ITwire article you mention that there is no Blackberry that runs on the NextG network.
Are you aware that the Nokia E51 is a NextG enabled phone that also connects to the BES. (i believe there is others like this aswell, but yet to try them).
We currently have 4x E51's deployed to our very very remote users which much success.
There available on the corporate plans from Telstra.
Cheers

hmmm my e-tag does not have a monthly fee associated with it that i can see on the bill Have had it for around 18 - 24months. I can travel on Lane Cove tunnel, M7, bridge, M2 etc useing this tag. I've yet to receive any infringement notices.

I had to pay the $50 deposit for the device, and i cash up the account with $100 of credit every few months or so, depending on how many trips are made.
